Areas of Expertise
The days when a lawyer could be all things to all men and women are long past and, at Ron Wheeldon Attorneys, we do not attempt the impossible or seek work we cannot deal with efficiently. Ron is, however, a lawyer first and a specialist second. He has acted in criminal matters and general civil matters since his initial practical work as the first elected convenor of Africa’s first legal aid clinic that was established by the University of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in Salisbury (now known as Harare) in 1975. At that University he had the privilege of studying the law of contract in English and Roman-Dutch law under the tutelage of Prof. R. H. Christie, author of one of the leading text books on Contract law in Southern Africa. He was also fortunate in being instructed in the Roman-Dutch law of property by the late Dr Harry Silberberg, original author of the text book “The Law of Property”. His solid grounding in these areas of law, both of which he has subsequently taught, has been an immense advantage in understanding Intellectual Property law which is his main area of specialisation.
